This page will be reviewing one of the restaurants located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Which is Breakfast Thieves with exact location of APW Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur. They are open from 9 am to 5 pm with the kitchen that stop operating at 3.30pm. The restaurant itself serves menu starting from light meal such as appetizer, desserts to heavy meal in main course to beverages such as tea, coffee and cold drinks which freshly prepared from the bar. Therefore it is a perfect place for breakfast, brunch, lunch and even late lunch or early dinner.
Breakfast Thieves itself is originated from the one out of five well known restaurant in Melbourne, Australia. The co-founders of the restaurants are Malaysians. Hence they are bringing the taste of Melbourne back to their hometown, Malaysia. The taste of the restaurant is modern Australian cuisine with the influence of Asian flavor touch. Designed with the classic concept by wooden and glass interior, made it as a welcoming space to attract the customers. In the restaurant, there is a open space bar exactly at the left side of the main door.

The moment you arrived there, you will immediately see the building as it is quite stands out from the other existing buildings. It is located in the middle of other restaurants and cafes, in midst of the restaurants there is an old printing factory located in same complex.
To dine in there, you will most probably have to wait around 15 to 30 minutes according to the length of queue. The line might be very vary depending on the day and time. Most of the time it is jam packed with bunch of people during business hours, especially during peak hour. To be in line, it is as simple as approaching the main door and wait for the server to assist. They will usually asked how many guests for seating arrangement and it will be adjusted by them. By the time queue number is up they will call the customers to be seated in the restaurant. In the meantime, you can spend time by looking at the surroundings and took photos at the famous photo spots around the restaurant. Just like how we did !

Now let’s jump into their menu. The menu itself is quite interesting as it is not something as common as nasi lemak in Malaysia. The price range of the menu is starting from early RM 20 to middle number of RM 30. With an additional of service and tax charges in the bill. By looking at the appearance of the food it is considered as normal range and it is not that pricey considering aspects such as service, ambience and foods.
There are two sections for the food which are ‘morning feed’ and ‘lunch out’. As obvious as their names, morning feed is mainly food suitable for breakfast and brunch contains mostly toast and eggs in it. The menu could be ordered starting from opening time which is served full time as the kitchen started to operate up until the closing time. Meanwhile for lunch out, it could be ordered later than the morning feed starting from 11 am up until 3.30 pm as it is more complex and more mise en place are required in the preparation process.
As of the saying, you would not know until you tried it out. We have a taste of few dishes on the menu. There are five menu in total with three from morning feed section and two from lunch out section which we tried out with an additional of an small cakes for the dessert.

First there is The Legend (RM 25) which contains homemade beef chorizo meatballs, spicy baked eggs, button mushroom, sweet corn, green peas, feta cheese, coriander, calamansi lime served with herbed garlic toast.
Next is Mr. Terry Benedict (RM 29) which is a twenty four hour braised ox cheek with porcini, English muffin, fresh baby spinach, crisp patata, renkon chips, along with brown butter hollandaise on top of the poached egg makes an perfect eggs benedict for your meal.

Third one from morning feed is gypsy king (RM 29) which is a definite call for salmon or even seafood lover. This menu contains citrus cured salmon, rosemary polenta log, creamed of carrot and orange, rekon chips, cucumber chimichurri, eryngii mushroom and topped with poached eggs in it.
Moving to the next corner, which is lunch out. In this section we are having return of uncle foo(RM 32), it is a crisp soft shell crab burger with used to be black burger bun but now has been change into a regular burger bun. The dish accomplished with chili and ginger sauce, cheddar, lettuce, cabbage slaw, fried egg, chips of potato and sweet potato, salted egg yolk seasoning and curry leaves.

Last but not least from the menu that we tried out it is an unique menu with touch of Asian influence in the dish. Named as 1MBT (RM 30), it is a complete meal of pandan and kunyit (turmeric) coconut rice with chicken poppers, egg floss, kapitan vegetables, papadam, boiled egg, crisp tempeh and cucumber, salted peanuts and fried anchovies.
Here comes the guilty little pleasure section, this time we have a serving size unicorn cake. Unlike the appearance, this unicorn cakes is an all-time favorite the classic tiramisu cake covered in cute looking unicorn buttercream with garnish of colorful meringue and horn with the chocolate eyes.
Overall dining experience is satisfying, it is a suitable place for a small events, gathering, meetings or meet ups and even for chill out throughout the day. The service team too is an attentive one, they are very helpful and organized in handling customers starting from the moment you approach the restaurant door to the moment you step out of it.
